Shameless Persistence...

We've been reading through the Bible this year and right now we are about half-way through.  Our daily reading plan gives us a few chapters from the Old Testament, a Psalm, and a few chapters from the New Testament.  I'm loving the variety each day and I feel like I'm reading it again with fresh eyes.  Yesterday I stumbled on what might turn out to be one of my favorite verses of the whole year:

“If you keep knocking long enough,
he will get up and give you whatever you need
because of your shameless persistence.”
~
Luke 11:8 NLT

Here are my three quick take-aways from that verse:
1)  It’s not about what I want, but about what I need… and God knows what I need.
2) I usually quit knocking way too early.
3) I would like to be known in heaven as the man with shameless persistence.
What are you praying for with shameless persistence? Can we join with you? Share in the comments... (and we'll share one of ours there too!)

To close this thought, here's a song that has been a great reminder to us that God knows exactly what we need.  We sing it at the top of our lungs in our house and you should feel free to as well!

I guess even though we haven't heard of anyone else's big prayer request yet, we better put one of ours in here...

one area that we are praying with persistence is for more opportunities to minister face-to-face with others and to share the gospel with people who don't know Jesus. Because our ministry is one-to-many (a few people working together to reach a LOT of people) and because we work alongside other Christians in the bible-belt of a "christian" country, we just don't have as many one-to-one opportunities for ministry as we would like. I guess it's all the more reason to make the most of the opportunities we do get.
